Homeopathy
What is it?
Homeopathy was discovered by German doctor named Samuel Hahnemann over 200 years ago. It involves using natural substances and diluting them to make medicines to cure specific pains or disorders.
How does it work?
This therapy involves making medicines using like for like which means that a substance that causes certain symptoms can be used to actually cure similar symptoms. For example, an onion, which is known to make eyes itch can be used in small doses to relieve the symptoms of hay fever. The therapy works by using natural substances from plants or animal, diluting them and using them to cure symptoms. However, some substances on their own can be poisonous so that is why they are diluted so many times. Thus, critics argue that by the time the substances are diluted there is virtually no natural substances left.
How much does it cost?
The initial treatment normally lasts about 60 minutes and costs about $60. Thereafter, the treatments cost between $25-$45 depending on the practitioner and how long the session is.
Are there any side effects?
There does not seem to be any reports of side effects with Homeopathy procedures but it is important to know what the natural substances are being diluted with because they may be diluted with things such as alcohol.
