Reflexology
What is it?
Reflexology involves massaging your feet in certain reflex areas on your feet which in turn correspond to different parts of your body. This treatment can help various disorders such as migraines and stress related conditions.
How does it work?
A reflexology practitioner massages various points on your feet, ankles and toes in order to release tension, help body circulation and create a healing mind and body. When the practitioner is massaging various points then you may experience some discomfort where they find blockages but most of the time clients find it very relaxing and normally fall asleep. Each session normally lasts an hour and you should attend a session at least once a month to keep your body in good working order.
How much is it?
Costs tend to vary depending on what reflexology practitioner that you use
Are there any side effects?
There are a few things to remember with reflexology such as:
- Reflexology should be avoided during the first 3 months of pregnancy
- You must tell the practitioner of any medication that you are taking because this could interfere with the treatment
- You must also tell the practitioner if you have any of the following: high blood pressure, kidney stones, pacemaker, gallstones, thyroid disease, blood clots, diabetes or even a foot injury
- After the treatment you tend to fell sleepy and relaxed so a good idea would be to go home and take a lie down
