Reiki

What is it?

Reiki was re-discovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the late 1800s to early 1900s. The word Reiki is a Japanese word which means "universal energy" or "universal life force". It is believed to heal the human body and bring it to a better state of balance, well being and harmony. This treatment can help stress related problems and also serious illnesses such as cancer.

How does it work?

When having a Reiki treatment the reiki practitioner will place their hands lightly on 12 specific positions on a fully clothed body. The reiki energy then naturally activates and radiates through the palms of their hands. Reiki enables you to enter a state of balance so that healing can take place. Normally, full reiki treatments lasts about 60 minutes but this may be a bit longer for your first session.

How much does it cost?

Normally, a Reiki treatment will cost around $50-$85 for a 60 minute session but again this depends on what practitioner you use.

Are there any side effects?

There have be no serious side effects reported with Reiki, however you will probably feel under the weather or out of sorts after a Reiki session but this is fairly normal because the body is said to be healing itself.
